White Tea

White tea has very few steps, so the quality of the leaf and the pace of the wither are easy to taste. Changshou’s Yunnan whites range from bright Silver Needle to old-tree cakes that become rounder and deeper as they rest.

From fresh, floral lots to teas made for ageing, these whites are chosen for clarity, texture and the way their character develops over time.

Shilu · Silver Needle

拾露 · 白毫银针

Changshou’s first Silver Needle. Large-leaf Jingmai buds are sun-withered and sun-dried, rested, then lightly charcoal-finished in Fuding to soften green notes while preserving freshness and body.

Only the buds are picked, so ancient and younger trees cannot be separated as cleanly as in a leaf-and-bud pluck. The Jingmai material is managed without conventional fertiliser or pesticide use. After sun-withering and sun-drying, Changshou rests the tea before sending it for a restrained charcoal finish: the aim is to remove raw green notes without replacing the large-leaf tea’s freshness, sweetness, and weight with roast flavour.

Chixian · Ancient-Tree White

池羡 · 古树白茶

Early-spring ancient-tree leaf, naturally withered and briefly sun-dried. The liquor is soft and glutinous, with lifted flowers, gentle fruit sweetness, and good potential for patient storage.

This was an early attempt to make white tea from spring ancient-tree material, picked before the Water-Splashing Festival rains. The processing is deliberately spare—natural withering followed by a short period of sun-drying—so the quality of the fresh leaf and the timing of moisture loss carry the tea. Changshou recommends mountain spring water and cool, dry, relatively sealed storage away from odours and direct light.

Xingshen · Ancient-Tree White

行深 · 古树白茶

Ancient tea trees grow among deep forest humus with little intervention. White-tea processing brings a light white-wine note, long sweetness, gentle energy, and a deep magnolia fragrance.

The same forest garden also supplies Xingshen raw Pu’er, but white-tea processing gives the leaf a different expression. A light white-wine note sits beside magnolia, honey, green date, and a long medicinal sweetness. Deep roots, infrequent picking, and thick forest humus give the liquor its full texture, gentle energy, and unhurried, lingering fragrance.

Yugu · Jingmai Ancient-Tree White

Rain Drum takes its name from rain hammering the Jingmai roof while the makers rushed the drying leaf indoors. Changshou’s long-running white tea balances fine sweetness, a deep throat finish, soft texture, and layered flower-and-fruit fragrance.

Changshou has made white tea in Jingmai since 2017. Yugu is picked as one bud with two leaves, withered in the shade, then dried in the gentler evening sun. The 2023 spring was especially fine: late budding and low rainfall concentrated its fragrance. Across vintages, the tea moves through white flowers, wild fruit, honey, warm milk, and a soft, clear sweetness that deepens in the throat.
